When is the best time to take photos of the newborn?
The best time for newborn photography is when the baby is between 5 and 14 days old.
At this time, the baby is sleeping most of the time and is easy to pose them. The baby still has the natural arch in their back and naturally pulls their legs up towards their tummy, which is often one of the charms of the photos being taken.
After 14 days, the baby gradually starts to stretch more and become more alert, which can make photography a little more challenging. But of course, it’s possible to take beautiful baby photos later too.
When should you book newborn photography?
It’s a good idea to book newborn photography well in advance of your due date, preferably in the second or third trimester of pregnancy.
Many photographers get booked up quickly, so it’s best to book early to secure your time. That way, the photographer can set aside time around the due date. Since you don’t know exactly when the baby will arrive, most photographers are flexible about moving the time back or forward a few days.
